This record breaking streak saw a total income of \u00a3349.1 million in shirt sponsorship deals for the 2019\/20 season.<\/p>\n<p>This becomes relevant when you realise that out of the 20 clubs in the English Premier League, 10 of them have gambling brands as their official shirt sponsor &#8211; another record &#8211; making up \u00a368.6 million of the total sponsorship money spent.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0Who&#8217;s Sponsoring Who?<\/h2>\n<p>Interestingly, the money brought in by gambling companies isn&#8217;t even one fifth of the total \u00a3349.1 million, with the majority of that sum being made up by airline, banking, and car companies sponsoring the like of Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, and Chelsea.<\/p>\n<p>Betway seem to have the deepest pockets of the bookies,\u00a0 sponsoring West Ham to the tune of \u00a310 million. At the other end of the table, Dafabet are paying \u00a33 million to appear on the front of Norwich&#8217;s shirt. Other clubs sporting the names of bookies across their chests include Everton, Watford, Newcastle Utd, and Wolves.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet tw-align-center\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The 10th annual review of Premier League shirt deals, by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/alexmiller73?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@alexmiller73<\/a>, shows the collective value for 2019-20 has risen to \u00a3349.1m. William Hill, Coral, Betfair et al are nowhere to be seen.<\/p>\n<p>So could it be that the big brand bookies are staying out of the spotlight in an effort to avoid negative press, and unintentionally leaving an opening for newer bookies or those from far off lands to sneak in the back door?<\/p>\n<p>It will certainly be an interesting season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the 10th year in a row, the amount raised in shirt sponsorship in the Premier League has topped that of the preceding season.
